Please join us for a half-day workshop with fellow NCAIS Athletic Directors and Coaches. We will be joined in the morning by Duke Hospital physicians, Dr. Jordan Ezekian, MC MPH and Dr. Salim Idress, MD PhD to discuss emergency procedures and life-saving best practices in the event of an unconscious athlete, coach, parent, or child. This program will help equip schools with current best practices in dealing with sudden cardiac emergencies. In the afternoon, we will be joined by UNCG Assistant Athletic Director Curtis Candy, to discuss current NCAA policies and helping your students prepare for the college athlete experience.

10:30am        Presentation with Dr. Ezekian “Sudden Cardiac Death Prevention with Project ADAM North Carolina”
Dr. Ezekian will highlight Project ADAM North Carolina, a new state-wide, school-based initiative to improve school readiness for sudden cardiac arrest events.

11:15 am      Presentation with Dr. Idriss “Cardiac Concerns in the Young Athlete”
Dr. Idriss will review common symptoms encountered in the young athlete along with information on recognizing cardiac syncope and sudden cardiac arrest.
