Strong learning communities are deliberately cultivated through serving, nurturing, and empowering students. They succeed when all community members feel ownership, feel valued, and feel safe. How do we, as educators, foster the social-emotional growth and awareness necessary to build a strong community? Join us on October 18, 2019, as we engage each other in discussion, debate, and practices that will enable us to cultivate the best in our students, ourselves, and our schools. Together, we can create thriving communities!

The 2019 NCAIS Annual Conference theme is “Cultivating Community From the Inside Out”. A central facet of our schools is volunteerism and service-learning. We know that there are students who have not only embraced the opportunities but have expanded them by creating clubs, service projects, and organizations that positively impact their school and the wider community. We want to celebrate their work by showcasing them at the conference on October 18, 2019, at McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC.

During the conference, students will have the opportunity to share their work with NCAIS educators from around the state. Students who wish to participate should submit a proposal by May 15. This opportunity is open to current and former NCAIS students.
