January 23, 2019 | Greensboro Day School

The Assistant Heads of School "Food for Thought" event is an opportunity for those in similar roles around the state to get together, learn from each other, and share challenges and successes. So often, our schools only have one person designated to the role you fill. Come spend a half-day with your peers who are walking a similar path at their school. There will be plenty of time to get to know each other and to build community. We are #BetterTogether.

Agenda
10:00am          Gather and Introductions
10:45am          The Bigger Picture: The Role of an Assistant Head | Ralph Davidson
“Largo al factotum della citta..”  “Make room for the person who does everything around here!”  These are the first words sung by Figaro at his entrance on stage in Rossini’s
“Barber of Seville.”  They also could be the words spoken by every Assistant Head of School I have ever known, and I know from my own experience as the Assistant Head at two different schools.
So, as Assistant Heads, who are we?  What is our role in our school? Where are we going? What does “professional growth” look like for us? Do we aspire to be Heads? Do we aspire to some other role? How is the school better because we are there?
We will discuss these questions and many others in this session.
11:45am          Lunch
12:45pm          Roundtable Discussions
2:00pm            Adjourn
